Hoylake Hero by Alistair Noakes is a newly published historical novel about the life of John Ball, Britain's greatest amateur golfer, who learnt his game at The Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

Read about his victories and friendships with Young and Old Tom Morris and Bobby Jones.

Alistair Noakes first started playing golf at the age of 11 with an old set of hickory clubs. When it was later pointed out to him that they were made by the five-time Open Champion J.H. Taylor, a seed was sown and a challenge laid down, to discover more about the heritage of the game and of those who had played it over hundreds of years.

He is a member of The Royal Liverpool Golf Club Village Play where he enjoys playing as an artisan over the famous Hoylake links, just a mile or so from his home. He continues to indulge his passion for golf's rich history through his membership of the British Golf Collectors Society.
